Around 2003, there was a quiet change in how we think about photos. In that year, for the first time, digital cameras outsold traditional film cameras. Digital photography has continued to be the main way most of us take photos ever since.
What does this mean for people’s personal photo libraries? It means that most of us likely have thousands and thousands of digital photos taken recently that we can already preserve, share, and use to connect with friends.
What about the rest of people’s family history photographed before digital photography? They are probably paper photo prints. Hidden in albums and shoeboxes, these photos are slowly fading and deteriorating over time, and their stories are lost and forgotten forever.
As families grow and move, paper photo collections tend to get scattered across the country, with nobody having a complete set of their shared memories.
It is estimated that 4-5 trillion paper photos exist worldwide, with about 1 trillion of those in the United States.
If placed in a single stack, those 1 trillion photos would reach 2/3 of the way to the moon! As those photos deteriorate with time, we are losing a large portion of our personal histories.
At medium quality settings, the typical home scanner takes a minute to a minute and a half to scan and save a photo. At that rate, it could take over 120 hours non-stop for someone to scan 5,000 pictures!
Until people know that there is another solution, they are forced by the sheer volume of photos to pick and choose only a select few shots for scanning, leaving the rest to the ravages of time.
As we shifted our attention to digital photography, so did Kodak. In addition to Digital Cameras, Kodak also turned its attention to creating scanners featuring state-of-the-art technology for capturing documents and pictures and turning them into files that you can keep, protect, and share on your computer.... without having to pick and choose just a few photos that will be preserved.
We don’t just want to have photos. We want to share them, connect with them, and talk about them with our friends and family. In the 21st century, a photo is not a “Kodak Moment” until it is shared!

How does the Affiliate Program work?
It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3; Ready, Scan, Go!
Step One is to promote photo scanning among your customer base and collect photos for scanning from people who want their photos preserved electronically. Affiliates are provided with everything needed to become an authorized E-Z Photo Scan drop-off location. They receive drop-off bins, marketing materials, and order tickets.
Step Two... The Scanning Part...is handled by E-Z Photo Scan. We pick the photos up, scan them using Kodak equipment on high-quality settings, and save the files to archival CDs or DVDs.
We even put albums back together exactly as they were when we picked them up!
Step Three is Delivery... E-Z Photo Scan returns the photos using one of our couriers back to the drop-off location or directly to the photographs’ owners using a portal-to-portal system with FedEx.
Would you prefer to have scanning done on-site? E-Z Photo scan also offers affordable on-site options.
